Jubilee Kids is an age group ministry to children between the ages of 2 and 8 years. Groups gather on Sunday in Observatory and Kloof Street during services.

Fabian's story

2019 was an exciting year in our kids’ ministry.  Our team flourished in one area in particular - kids’ worship. It had been our vision for a couple of years to see the twice-a-term kids ‘praise party’ headed up by young musicians who could act as role-models in leading the kids into the presence of God through worship. In 2019 we saw this happen!

This year, one of our Jubilee students and Blaze leader, Fabian Pluddeman, agreed to lead the praise party band.  It has been exciting to see what God has done through him during this year.

“Praise Party in 2019 felt like a leap of faith, exploring other ways in which we could worship God together. “ - Fabian

We hold our praise parties twice a term. They have historically been for children in Grade R up to Grade 5.

This year, under Fabian’s leadership, we extended this to Grade 7. We worship with a live band and aim to have lots of fun whilst going deeper into the presence of God with the kids; between high energy action songs, we take time to reflect on what we are singing and what God may be saying to us.

Fabien has led the team of young musicians and sound technicians (most of them students and some still in school) with a clear vision and high standards. As a result, he has been able to nurture an excellent level of commitment in his team.

They have served together with joy.

“Creative art, prayer, lamenting, writing, and singing without a band have opened up spaces for kids to encounter God in hugely personal, profound ways and quiet ways; ways that they hadn't necessarily been used to.  However, the kids also discovered the fun and joy of jumping and dancing to loud and exuberant songs because singing songs of praise is also super fun! “ - Fabian

Fabian listens to God and is passionate about leading the children into a deeper understanding of who God is and how they can have a relationship with Him. It has been wonderful to see the kids responding to this young

band’s passion for Jesus.

Leading on from our praise party moments, it has also been exciting to see the kids responding to the corporate

worship time upstairs as we have sought to teach them songs which are sung by the adults too.

In this way they learn that even the ‘upstairs worship time’ is for them and we find adults and children worshipping

in a meaningful way alongside each other.

“It has been a privilege to watch the kids earnestly seek the kingdom, and though we as leaders teach

them about worshipping God, in return we are taught so much about the nature of God through each of his precious children.” - Fabian

We are excited to see what 2020 will bring!
